A new report from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier suggests that Sony is currently in the process of planning a PlayStation Plus revamp in order to compete with Microsoft’s hugely successful Xbox Game Pass.
Xbox Game Pass has become one of the biggest subscription services in gaming, and although PlayStation Plus offers monthly free titles, it simply doesn’t compare to the number of massive titles available on Game Pass.
The subscription service doesn’t even require you to own an Xbox One or Series X|S, as it’s also available on PC. Of course, you need a PC good enough to run some of the games, but simply having the option is already a huge positive.
As Xbox Game Pass has been dominating for quite some time now, gamers have always wondered if Sony would retaliate with its own competitor. Well, wonder no more, as PlayStation Plus is reportedly set to get a huge revamp in 2022.

PlayStation Is Creating An Xbox Game Pass Competitor
The report comes from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who has reportedly reviewed documents from an anonymous source at Sony.
According to the anonymous source and reviewed documents, a new project is in the works at PlayStation with the code-name ‘Spartacus’. The service will reportedly merge PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, still keeping the name of ‘PlayStation Plus’ whilst they phase out the ‘Now’ service.
The new service will reportedly be separated into three tiers. The first tier includes existing PlayStation Plus benefits such as access to online multiplayer and free monthly games. Whilst the second tier includes a large catalogue of PlayStation 4 titles, with PlayStation 5 titles expected to join later down the line. Finally, if you’re willing to shell out for the third tier, you’d have access to extended demos, game streaming, and a large library of classic titles from the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP.
However, the service isn’t expected to launch until Spring 2022, so details could change by the time of release.
