Destruction AllStars is set to finally launch on PS5 next month. The arena car combat game puts players in control of one of sixteen different characters who each have their own vehicles. If you’re on the lookout for a brighter, happier-looking Twisted Metal, this one might be right up your alley. Today, Sony gave us a better look at the sixteen competitors you’ll be able to choose from. Check it out below.
As you can see, the characters of Destruction AllStars are just as colorful and over-the-top as everything else we’ve seen. From Ultimo Barricudo and his ramp truck to Harmony and her audio-infused attacks, this game looks like the right kind of wild. It’s worth noting that this is only a tease of what’s to come. There are still several characters yet to reveal and we barely have any idea about most character’s special attacks.
Here’s hoping they can continue to deliver fun characters as they pull back the curtain. Importantly, we need more dumb special moves like Jian’s spike car. That thing rules. He’s basically Spyke from X-Men Evolution but a car. More of that, please. As someone who grew up playing tons of Twisted Metal, I’m hoping AllStars can scratch that car combat itch, even if it isn’t deeply unsettling like those early PlayStation era games often were.
Fortunately, we don’t have to wait much longer to check the game out for ourselves. Destruction AllStars is set to come to PS5 sometime next month. And, if you’ve forgotten, it’s coming to PlayStation Plus, so subscribers can pick it up for “free.” That’s a solid deal.
