Well, that showcase was really something. Sony confirmed the price and release date of the PS5, showed us awesome gameplay of Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon Souls and revealed both Final Fantasy XVI and Hogwarts Legacy to name just a few things. Alongside that, Sony shared an awesome new addition that’s coming to the PlayStation 5, at no extra cost for PS Plus Subscribers.
The new addition, PlayStation Plus Collection, is an assortment of the PS4’s biggest titles, that will be heading to the PS5 for launch. The games include many of Sony’s first-party releases, alongside some of the biggest third party hits of the current generation.
The Games announced for the collection are as follows:
- God of War
- Bloodborne
- Monster Hunter World
- Final Fantasy XV
- Fallout 4
- Mortal Kombat X
- Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
- Ratchet and Clank
- Days Gone
- Until Dawn
- Detroit: Become Human
- Battlefield 1
- Infamous Second Son
- Batman Arkham Knight
- The Last Guardian
- The Last of Us
- Persona 5
- Resident Evil Biohazard
This is somewhere in between an answer to backwards compatibility and Xbox Game Pass for Sony. There are a few key differences between the PlayStation Plus Collection and Xbox Game Pass, however. While the PS Plus collection comes at no extra cost for PlayStation Plus subscribers, it doesn’t appear to come with any of the newest releases, or even any of the latest versions of titles. This is exemplified by the fact that Persona 5, not Persona 5 Royal, is included. The list of games is very impressive however, no matter which way you look at it.
This is a fantastic proposition for those who are looking to upgrade to the PS5 at launch, giving them at least 18 games to choose from right off the bat.
